Zayn Malik: ‘An ALIEN Told Me To Quit One Direction’

Pop star ZAYN MALIK was given the push to leave ONE DIRECTION by an alien in a dream.

The Pillowtalk singer found fame in the boy band in 2010, but decided to go it alone and pursue a solo career last March (15). The risk ultimately paid off, but it was one surprising factor that prompted Zayn to cut ties with the group.

In a questionnaire with Glamour magazine, Zayn was asked what was the “first time you realised you wanted to break off from One Direction and go off on your own?”

He kept his answer short and mysterious, replying, “An alien spoke to me in a dream…”.

Despite his coy answer, the 23-year-old previously told Complex magazine he decided to quit the band because he was not being authentic to who he was as a person while in the group.

“That was something that was always underlying, and ended up as the main factor of me leaving in the end,” he said. “It was about denying the authenticity of who I was, and what I enjoyed about music, and why I got into it. That was always there. It was one of the things that wasn’t going to go away, so I had to go away.”

Zayn’s pledge to stay true to his instincts paid off earlier this year (16), when he released his first solo album, Mind of Mine. The record even made chart history in the U.S. when Zayn became the first solo Brit to hit number one on the Billboard 200 chart with a debut album. He also became the first male U.K. artist to reach number one with their first album since George Michael climbed to the top with Faith almost 30 years ago.
