U.S. Рolitician CRITICISES The Kardashians’ Cuban Vacation

The KARDASHIANS have been criticised for their trip to Cuba by a U.S. politician.

Kim Kardashian and sisters Khloe and Kourtney arrived in Cuba on Wednesday (04May16) and, unsurprisingly, they’ve been documenting their visit on social media. The family have posted snaps of themselves smoking cigars, and been pictured driving along the streets of Havana in a convertible, as well as visiting the Museum of Rum.

The whole clan, including Kim’s husband Kanye West and their two-year-old daughter North, and Kourtney’s son Mason, six, were also spotted dining at restaurant San Cristobal Paladar in Havana.

However, Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen is critical of the reality stars’ trip, particularly because they are creating an impression of glamour in the financially struggling country which isn’t a reality for many of its inhabitants.

South Florida Rep. Ros-Lethtinen tells People Magazine: “I know it’s cool for celebrities to go to Cuba, but the Cuban people don’t experience the glamorous Havana that is featured on social media. Far from photo shoots and fruity drinks, everyday Cubans experience a different, sad reality.

“Now, the Kardashians are parachuting into the island to tape their vapid TV show,” she added. “Haven’t the Cuban people suffered enough?”

Now that the travel ban and trade embargo between the U.S. and the communist-led island nation has been lifted, the family are among several high-profile celebrities to visit the stunning city of Havana.

U.S. President Barack Obama made an historic trip to Cuba in March (16), the same month the Rolling Stones became the first major rock act to play in the country since it became Communist in 1959

On Tuesday (03May16), Karl Lagerfeld, the creative director of Chanel staged his Resort 2017 fashion show on an open-air catwalk in the Paseo del Prado in the centre of Havana.

Guests included model Gisele Bundchen, actress Tilda Swinton and Fast and the Furious star Vin Diesel who is currently filming the next instalment of the Fast and Furious franchise in Havana.
