GARBAGE frontwoman SHIRLEY MANSON was lucky to escape injury after a dramatic fall from the stage at a Los Angeles gig.

The rockers performed at the Californian city’s KROQ Weenie Roast concert on Saturday (14May16) when Shirley tripped and plunged into the front row of the crowd head first during a rendition of Garbage’s 1998 U.K. hit Special.

The 49-year-old Scottish singer appeared unharmed by the dramatic tumble, even managing to continue with the song amid a delighted audience, one of whom captured a video of the incident and posted it on Instagram.

However, the band seemed to reference the mishap in a post on their Facebook page that the gig hadn’t gone as well as they’d hope.

“So we got the first show of ‘Strange Little Birds’ (the title their new album – which they are touring in support of) under our belt yesterday. Could have been worse. Could have been better. There are always monsters to chase in dreams,” the post stated.

Shirley’s stage fall wasn’t the most dramatic news to come out of the multi-band event over the weekend (14-15May16), as headliners the Red Hot Chilli Peppers were forced to pull-out of their planned show at the Irvine Meadows Amphitheater due to frontman Anthony Kiedis being hospitalised with intestinal flu.

As for Garbage, their new album Strange Little Birds is released on 10 June (16), with their supporting tour continuing in Reims, France on 24 May (16).
