Rage Against The Machine, Public Enemy, Cypress Hill Forming SUPERGROUP – Report

Published on May 19, 2016

Members of RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE, PUBLIC ENEMY and CYPRESS HILL are reportedly banding together to form a new supergroup.

Rage Against The Machine

A cryptic countdown clock was launched on a new band website, titled ProphetsOfRage.com, on Tuesday(17May16), leading many fans to believe Rage Against The Machine were reuniting for the first time in five years.

Fans who submitted email addresses to a mailing list received a note which read: “Clear the way for the prophets of rage” and the phrase “The Party’s Over Summer 2016”.

Meanwnile, Public Enemy rapper Chuck D sparked rumours he was part of the stunt earlier this week (16May16) when he shared video links to Rage Against the Machine’s live performances on his Twitter page.

Sources now tell Billboard that the mysterious project isn’t a Rage reunion, but rather a supergroup called Prophets of Rage, consisting of the rock band’s guitarist Tom Morello, bassist Tim Commerford and drummer Brad Wilk, along with Chuck D and Cypress Hill’s B-Real.

Insiders tell Billboard Prophets of Rage will perform songs by all three bands, and the group is slated to make its debut on 3 June (16) at the Hollywood Palladium, with a summer (16) tour also being considered.

The mysterious countdown has driven fans’ curiosity so much so that the Prophets Of Rage website crashed multiple times on Wednesday (18May16).
