KIRSTEN DUNST thinks her new movie MIDNIGHT SPECIAL sounds like the name of an adult film.

The actress, currently promoting her new sci-fi movie in the U.K., admitted the title was risque, after a radio host joked it sounded “saucy”.

During the chat Kirsten initially refused to take the shock-jock host’s bait, saying she wouldn’t name names when he asked if there were any co-stars she absolutely hated working with.

BBC Radio 1 host Nick Grimshaw then changed course, and called her new flick saucy.

“Sauciness? Sexiness? Oh because of the title, oh I didn’t even put that together…” the 33-year-old actress said, feigning confusion. “Yeah it’s a soft porn, Midnight Special definitely sounds kind of soft core, come on. It just sounds like some bad cable version.”

Kirsten plays mother Sarah Tomlin in the new movie, which follows a troubled father and son as they go on the run from a cult after he learns his son has supernatural powers.

The Jeff Nichols directed film has been previewed at various film festivals this year (16) including the South by Southwest film festival in Austin Texas, to good reviews.

It’s rumoured that Kirsten was so keen to work with Jeff that she actively pursued him to secure her role, which sees her depart from her focus on TV work in recent years.

“She said, ‘Let me show you.’ And she put herself on tape. She’s a big-time movie star, and for her to do that I was quite impressed with,” the director recalled in an interview with CinemaBlend.com. “But it was honestly the tape. She pulled her hair back into this ponytail and braid and didn’t have make-up on, felt very honest.”

“I’d have taken any role in any of his movies,” Kirsten chipped in.

Midnight Special hits U.K. cinema screens in April (16).
