The former basketball star hired Assets International to recover unclaimed property, in exchange for 30 per cent of the its worth. Staff at the company found $96,000 (£60,000) for Dennis at the Michigan Department of Treasury’s Unclaimed Property Division, meaning they were entitled to a $28,000 (£17,500) commission.

However, once Dennis received the money, he allegedly failed to pay Assets International their cut, and a lawsuit has since been filed.

Editors at reached out to the former Chicago Bulls player for a comment on the legal action, but the unpaid bill was blamed on a former business manager who was fired by the star in April (15).

The woman was accused by Dennis and his lawyer of stealing money, failing to pay unpaid bills (including the bill for Assets International), and faking her professional background, but she hit back, telling Dennis was a liar and an “alcoholic drunk”.
