The movie is the next project from David Robert Mitchell, director of indie horror sleeper hit It Follows, with production expected to start in Los Angeles in the coming months.

Earlier this month (May16), Mitchell said that he was keen to get started on production as soon as possible.

“I’m super excited to be working with Andrew (Garfield),” he said, according to Screen Daily. “We have a really great team. I can’t wait to make and share this film with audiences.”

Meanwhile, the film’s producer Michael De Luca shared a similar sentiment and said he was confident in Mitchell’s vision for the new movie.

“David Robert Mitchell is one of the great new voices in cinema and I am honoured to be working with him and the entire producing team,” he shared.

In addition to returning as Anastasia Steele in Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed – which are currently filming back to back – Johnson, 26, recently starred in Luca Guadagnino’s A Bigger Splash opposite Tilda Swinton, Ralph Fiennes and Matthias Schoenaerts. She is now linked to Darius Marder’s The Sound of Metal, co-starring again with Schoenaerts, and working on Forever, Interrupted, on which she is also a producer.

Garfield, 32, also has a busy filming schedule and has two major features in the pipeline with Mel Gibson’s Hacksaw Ridge, in which he plays WWII U.S. Army Medic Desmond T. Doss, who became the first conscientious objector in American history to be awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor. He also stars in Martin Scorsese’s historical epic Silence, in which he plays a 17th century Jesuit priest who travels to Japan to propagate Christianity.

A release date for Under The Silver Lake is yet to be released.
