The country singer performed a headline-grabbing duet with Justin Timberlake at the prizegiving on Wednesday (04Nov15), and picked up three top trophies, including Male Vocalist of the Year and Album of the Year for his debut disc Traveller.

The record peaked at number 14 on the Billboard 200 chart when it was released in May (15) and it dropped out in September (15), but sales have soared since the ceremony and Traveller has now hit the number one spot.

Stapleton is joined in the Billboard 200 by a slew of fellow country stars, with Carrie Underwood hanging on to the number two slot with her album Storyteller and Eric Church at three with Mr. Misunderstood.

Church’s record hit shelves just hours before the CMAs on Wednesday and the surprise release subsequently surged up the chart.

The Now That’s What I Call Music! 56 compilation album is at number four, and The Weeknd’s Beauty Behind the Madness drops to five.

Last week’s (ends01Nov15) number one album, 5 Seconds of Summer’s Sounds Good Feels Good, dropped to seventh place.
